Truth: I hit a rough patch.
I lost sight of what was important to me.
I stopped taking photos of my little man, fun family outings, my dingy dog Beau. I stopped blogging. All because of a few comments that were said to me. They put me in a funk. Why did I let them get to me? Who knows! Maybe because that's what we as humans do. We care too much about what others say. Guess what? I'm over it.
I realized a few months back that I wasn't happy with my photography journey. I was constantly comparing my work to others. Thinking I wasn't good enough. Always trying to advertise my work to get more clients. Thinking that if I got my name out there, to more prospective clients that it would make my work more meaningful. Better.
Go. Go. Go. Go.
Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.
I need to photograph what I love.
I need to capture the small moments.
I need to be present with my family.
I've come to realize these are the most important things in my life. I don't need to consume my time with comparing myself to others. I need bury myself in my own journey, and most importantly, BE HAPPY. There was a point in time where I was doing 5-6 sessions a week. Crazy talk! Since then I've cut it down to 3-4 sessions a month. This allows me to be the wife that I want to be, the mother that I want to be AND the photographer that I want to be.
Now that my pity party is over, let's play catch up.
We bought a house! My husband has been Mr. Fix it, fixing everything up. We laid new tile, and flooring in all the rooms. Painted everywhere. Started the fence for the front yard, and chicken coop. YES, chicken coop! I'm so excited to have fresh eggs. Our little chickeys are staying in our garage until they are big enough to go outside. They sure STINK... but i'm hoping that their eggs in the future make up for it ;) The next exciting thing...
My son is potty trained! He's 2 and a half, and is doing awesome. I am such a proud momma.
Last but not least...
I have prints up at The Beachcomber in Bayside, Arcata! They are for a project that I did about a year ago, called North Coast Beautiful Bodies. Check out the link here (http://www.villiadosphotography.com/ncbb.html) to find out more info about that.
Now I am going to overload you with bunches of cuteness. Enjoy :)
So. First thing Z wanted to do today was skateboard. He woke up, laid his head on my stomach, "mommm, skateboard?" We got up, I threw on some sweats, and we went outside to skateboard before breakfast. My baby is 2 and a half. This boy may be your next favorite sports star. His balance is unreal for such a little guy. He's taken some falls in the past couple days, but they don't even phase him! Rockstar status. Don't mind all the underwear shots... Pants are far and few between around here since he started the potty training process. Pants are overrated anyhow. ;)
